Located within the Eastwood Mall complex in Niles, Ohio, Firebirds Wood Fired Grill is known for its warm hospitality and inviting atmosphere. In 2021, Firebirds engaged Phillips Sekanick Architects to enhance both the interior and exterior of the restaurant, with the goal of improving functionality and elevating the overall customer experience.

Interior renovations included the thoughtful enclosure of a portion of the dining area to create a flexible meeting and community space. To preserve the restaurant’s open and welcoming ambiance, the new room was defined using frameless glass partitions and doors—minimizing visual disruption while adding functionality.

Exterior enhancements focused on transforming the previously open-air patio into a more versatile outdoor seating area. A new roof structure was introduced to provide protection from direct sunlight and inclement weather, significantly extending the patio’s usability. Designed with care, the structure accommodates existing signage and the outdoor fireplace while preserving the full seating capacity.

This project builds on a series of successful collaborations between Firebirds and Phillips Sekanick Architects, with similar improvements planned or underway at locations in Erie, PA; Columbus, OH; and Spotsylvania Town Center in Fredericksburg, VA.
