Dairy Queen Grill & Chill, Seven Hills

DQ Grill & Chill Seven Hills | Restaurant & Drive-Thru Architecture, Renovation, Alterations, & Addition | Phillips Sekanick Architects | 2022

Located at 7331 Broadview Road in Seven Hills, Ohio, the DQ Grill & Chill restaurant designed by Phillips Sekanick Architects transformed a former restaurant property into a contemporary quick-service dining destination. The project relocated and expanded an established Seven Hills Dairy Queen, providing a larger facility, expanded food-service capabilities, drive-thru service, and a modern environment reflecting Dairy Queen’s evolving Grill & Chill brand.

The redevelopment required careful site planning and coordination with the City of Seven Hills to accommodate drive-thru operations and redevelopment of the former Ruby Tuesday property. City communications described the project as a larger restaurant with an expanded menu while maintaining Dairy Queen’s longstanding presence in the community.

Phillips Sekanick Architects adapted Dairy Queen’s national prototype and operational standards to the specific requirements of the Seven Hills site. The approximately 3,700-square-foot freestanding restaurant includes dine-in service, drive-thru operations, customer ordering and pickup areas, food preparation and support spaces, accessible facilities, and outdoor dining. The building and site were organized to support efficient customer and vehicle circulation while maintaining strong visibility along Broadview Road.

The completed restaurant continues to serve as an established community destination. Independent customer-review sources describe the environment as comfortable, clean, warm, and welcoming, with outdoor patio seating, convenient parking, and accessible facilities.

The Seven Hills DQ Grill & Chill demonstrates Phillips Sekanick Architects’ experience in restaurant architecture, quick-service restaurant design, franchise prototype adaptation, drive-thru planning, commercial redevelopment, food-service design, and site planning. By combining Dairy Queen’s national brand standards with local development requirements and franchise operations, the project created a contemporary restaurant that reinvested in a prominent Northeast Ohio commercial property.
