Caribou Coffee, North Canton
Caribou coffee, North Canton, Ohio, Covelli Enterprises | Coffee house & restaurant Design, interior Build-ouT, | 2024
Located at 5443A Whipple Avenue NW in North Canton, Ohio, near the Belden Village retail corridor, the Caribou Coffee tenant build-out designed by Phillips Sekanick Architects introduced the national coffeehouse brand to the Stark County market. Developed for Covelli Enterprises, the project transformed tenant space within a multi-tenant commercial development into a contemporary Caribou Coffee environment supporting dine-in, walk-in, mobile-order, and drive-thru customers. The location opened in August 2024 as Stark County’s first Caribou Coffee.
Phillips Sekanick Architects designed the interior build-out to translate Caribou Coffee’s national brand standards into an efficient, customer-focused coffeehouse environment. The plan coordinated ordering, beverage preparation, food service, seating, circulation, and support functions within the available tenant space while creating the warm atmosphere associated with the Caribou brand. The completed location provides indoor seating for approximately 30 customers, an outdoor patio for about 16 guests, and drive-thru service.
The project occupies a prominent commercial site near Interstate 77 and Belden Village Mall, within one of Stark County’s most active retail districts. Customer response has been positive, with the completed space described as having a welcoming atmosphere and an “upscale and modern” character.
The Caribou Coffee North Canton project demonstrates Phillips Sekanick Architects’ experience in coffeehouse design, restaurant architecture, tenant build-outs, branded commercial interiors, food-service planning, prototype adaptation, and franchise development. It also continues the firm’s longstanding work with Covelli Enterprises, applying national restaurant standards to individual sites and operational requirements throughout Ohio and beyond.
